The ornament for today is a picture of a clown. The quote Zimmerman uses is from Philippians 4, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!“
Zimmerman then talks about laughter, and how it is one of the best gifts God gives us. I have to agree!
Especially in our present times, if we can find a reason for full throated laughter, we should revel in it.
As Catholics, we are sometimes stuck in a serious mode, in particular when it comes to matters of faith. I think we are missing out on a whole dimension of joy when we limit our faith experiences this way.
I am lucky enough to be a grandmother. My grandchildren say and do the funniest things. They love a good laugh, and it is infectious! It alters my mood and brings me good memories of when I was younger.
Today, as I think of the clown, and the gift of laughter, I pause and humbly thank God for it. I will keep my eye out for ways to bring laughter back into my life.
