Advent 2022 Day 25

Today the ornament is a picture of a ring. Zimmerman uses the very familiar reading from 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7,13, “Love is patient, love is kind, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs…”

These are the verses that many married couples choose to have proclaimed at their wedding. It is a beautiful list of what true love is supposed to look like, “love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres…”

I have been married for 36 years to a most wonderful man. My husband and I have had our share of times when we don’t agree, when we are not patient or kind. Because we have the Grace of our sacrament underneath our feet, we always manage to find our way back to each other. I am blessed beyond measure to have him in my life and I am grateful every day that he asked me to come along and ride the roller coaster with him!

God’s love for us is even greater than the love I share with my husband. He is never unkind, or impatient. He always takes us back, he keeps no records of our wrongs!

Today as I hang the ring ornament on my tree I give thanks for my husband, my children, grandchildren and all of the love God has poured into my life. These gifts from God are a circle that cannot be broken.
